May 14, 2024 -  Kathryn Harvey, Democratic candidate for South Carolina Congressional District 4 (SC-04), announces today that her campaign has raised over $100,000 since filing to run for the seat on March 25th. The impressive haul is on track to outpace all former Democratic candidates for SC-04 dating back 32 years. The highest total raise by a Democrat in SC-04 since 1992 was $168,860 in 2020.

Incumbent Representative William Timmon's counts only $180,000 of his warchest from individuals and has loaned his campaign $850,000 of personal funds. In contrast, all of Harvey's contributions are from individuals.

Harvey’s campaign kick-off in Spartanburg on April 30th drew 200 people.

The last Democrat and woman to represent the Upstate was Liz Patterson who served from 1987-1993. Greenville and Spartanburg are two of the fastest growing counties in South Carolina. The District is majority female.

Harvey, a Spartanburg native, returned home in 2017 after spending over a decade working with family centric brands like Major League Baseball and Sesame Street. She launched her own marketing firm and has worked with and supported nonprofits in the Upstate and across South Carolina. She led U.S. Census efforts in Spartanburg County during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Harvey has spent the last two years building the Spartanburg County Democratic Party and mobilizing voters across the state. The party’s 2024 county convention drew more participants than it had in the past 30 years.
